Ngurdoto Crater

You will be guided to the Ngurdoto Crater, an extinct volcano. The area around the crater is heavily forested and it encloses a marshy area between rugged cliffs. It is inhabited by a large variety of animals including buffalos, baboons, antelopes and warthogs. It is a popular stop over for game viewing. The crater is surrounded by the Ngurdoto forest, a shady expanse that is home to playful black and white colobus monkeys. Nearby is expansive grassland where herds of zebras and buffalos can be seen throughout the year.

Momella Lakes

You will be guided to the Momella Lakes, a series of seven shallow lakes: the big Momella, the small Momella, Kusare, Lekandiro, Tulusia, Rishateni, and El Kekhotoito. These are alkaline lakes with considerable algae growth. Each of these lakes is a different shade of green or blue colours. While the water is not suitable for drinking, it is possible to see a variety of birds, including flamingoes, and animals such as water bucks, giraffes, zebras, and dik-diks in the surrounding area. Canoeing is possible on Small Momella Lake.

In the course of the park tour, you will take a break to enjoy a sumptuous packed lunch after which the afternoon tour will begin. At the end of the tour you will be driven back to the hotel in Arusha for a well-earned rest and overnight stay.
